Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski held a press conference after the extraordinary government session that was scheduled for Sunday at noon.

“We are facing a challenge that is truly great. We are not an exception to the ongoing crisis that has been imposed due to the events and military conflicts in the Middle East,” said Mickoski. As P

M Mickoski pointed out, based on the movements of world stock markets, it is expected that gasoline with 95 and 98 octane will increase in price by about MKD 6.5 per liter, while diesel could reach an increase of MKD 10.5 per liter.

“We expect the price of gasoline from MKD 86.5 and MKD 88.5 to increase to MKD 93 and MKD 95, and diesel from MKD 92 to MKD 102.5 per liter,” PM Mickoski underlined.

In response to this, the Government has decided to reduce the value-added tax on gasoline and diesel from 18 to 10 percent, in order to mitigate the impact on citizens.

“With this measure, we expect the price of gasoline to remain almost unchanged, while diesel to increase by about MKD 3 to MKD 3.5 per liter, instead of more than MKD 10,” the Prime Minister noted.Additionally, the Government is negotiating with the OKTA company to increase the discount it gives to retailers, which could affect a further reduction in prices.

“If an agreement is reached, we expect prices to be up to MKD 3 lower than the maximum set by the Regulatory Commission,” Mickoski added.
