Criminal charges were filed against former Strumica Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov, the head of urban planning and an inspector in the Municipality of Strumica, as well as the investor, because a “reconstruction” of a facility was approved, although it was clear as day that it was a brand new construction. To make things even more interesting, according to the DUP, no construction was planned at that location at all.
However, without a legally binding decision, the investor began construction, and the inspector in the municipality did not treat it as a criminal offense of “illegal construction”, but only as a construction misdemeanor. She has been reported for “abuse of official position and authority”.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is charging Kostadinov and the municipal officials with negligent work in the service, and the investor with illegal construction.
The Strumica Interior Department has filed a criminal charge against K.K. (36), S.R. (38), M.T. (42), S.O. (61) and G.M. (54), all Strumica residents, with the Strumica Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO).
