The sixth annual edition of the most massive eco-action in the country “Generalka Weekend” will be held from May 8th until May 10th.
This year’s record-breaking eco-event mobilizes tens of thousands of volunteers from 80 municipalities, 600 organizations, public institutions and private companies. This is the largest logistical operation ever for waste collection and raising environmental awareness among citizens.
The action will be carried out for three days simultaneously at more than 500 locations, in 80 municipalities across the country. Eco-actions are organized and coordinated by the municipalities in cooperation with the Red Cross.
The official opening event for GENERALKA WEEKEND 2026 is at 9 am on May 8 and will be led by the City of Skopje with a cleaning of the Vardar River embankment. The eco-action is organized and divided into eight teams, which will be deployed on the northern and southern sides of the Vardar River from the Lepenec River to the Kiro Gligorov Bridge. In cooperation with PE Communal Hygiene and PE Parks and Greenery, hundreds of volunteers from private companies, institutions and schools will be mobilized to clean up the largest green and recreational area in the capital.
