Food prices increased by less than one percent in April compared to March 2026, according to the government’s analysis based on data provided by the State Market Inspectorate, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told reporters Wednesday after the launch of the Intraday Electricity Market in Skopje.
“The figures we receive for food prices on a monthly basis, April compared to March, are somewhere under 1% higher. Transport services have increased the most, especially with low-cost airlines and tickets, which affects the final inflation,” the PM said.
Mickoski pointed out that inflationary pressures are also present in the region, stating that in Bulgaria inflation is over 6%, in Croatia around 6%, and in Greece around 5%.
“There is no way we can remain immune to this, considering that last year at this time we also had an Easter basket,” PM Mickoski said.
The Prime Minister expects price stabilization in the coming period, with inflation projected to fall below 4%, and by the end of the year to range between 2 and 3 percent, especially if the situation in the Middle East stabilizes.
