Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Sunday that the recent government decision to extend fuel tax cuts until June 1 will keep the country’s fuel prices the lowest in the region.
“Yesterday we had an extraordinary online session of the Government at which we extended the measures that mean reduced VAT on gasoline and reduced excise duties on gasoline and diesel until June 1. With that, we as a country are once again with the lowest prices of gasoline and diesel fuels,” said Mickoski in response to a reporter’s question after the launch of a new farmers’ market in Vinica.
“Despite all the risks and challenges that the world is facing, in these almost three months of what I would say is the biggest energy crisis that has ever happened, not according to me, but according to the president of the World Energy Community, as a country we have not only managed to ensure the lowest price for fuels, but also offer it to neighboring countries, because a large part of their citizens from the north, west and south come to us to fill up their fuel tanks,” said Mickoski.
As a Government, we will continue in that direction, adds the PM.
With this government decision, the reduced VAT from 18 to 10 percent for gasoline and the reduced excise duty of 4 denars per liter for diesel and two denars per liter for gasoline will be in effect for the next two weeks.
