The Sveti Nikole Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office immediately took all actions to secure evidence and filed charges against a 21-year-old man for causing bodily harm during domestic violence, which is a crime under Article 130, paragraph 2 in conjunction with paragraph 1, as well as for unlawful deprivation of liberty under Article 140, paragraph 2 in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
On February 19 and February 20, in the family house in Sveti Nikole, the suspect committed domestic violence by restricting the freedom of movement and physically harming his pregnant girlfriend, according to the information from the Public Prosecutor’s Office(PPO).
He insulted the injured party with whom he shared a home, and then began to physically assault her. When the girl fainted from the blows, he took her to the bathroom where he brought her to consciousness with cold water, after which he began to pull her by the hair and hit her again with punches on the head and body. The victim suffered multiple physical injuries from the blows, and when she tried to escape, the defendant took her mobile phone and locked her in the bedroom, where he held her for 15 hours against her will.
The public prosecutor also filed a proposal for determining a detention measure for the suspect.
