Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski said at a press conference Friday that he’s not considering increasing taxes. The City of Skopje is not yet in a state in which Skopje residents deserve to live, the mayor says.
“We still have not completely put the situation in order. Why? Because we are doing everything we can to the last atom, but we need time to resolve all processes,” said Gjorgjievski in response to a reporter’s question after addressing the work done since he took office, as well as the projects that are coming in the future.
Gjorgjievski says that despite having the lowest taxes in the region, he believes that they should not be increased.
“As a city, we have not yet provided the services to citizens that they deserve so that we can think about this topic. But I believe that taxes should not be increased,” added the capital’s mayor.
