The unconvincing attempts of the opposition, during whose rule Macedonia was placed on the so-called “U.S. blacklist”, to present the current government as inept and incapable in foreign policy, definitely received an appropriate response, after the partnership agreement with the United Kingdom, as well as the closure of the post-monitoring dialogue by the Council of Europe after 26 years, the State Department published the Joint Statement between the United States and Macedonia on Reciprocal Trade.
It establishes a framework for reciprocal, fair and balanced trade, officially opening the way to a comprehensive bilateral trade agreement, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said.
“…The White House has issued a Joint Statement between the United States and Macedonia on Reciprocal Trade. This statement represents a clear signal for the deepening of the strategic partnership and confirmation of the strong support that Macedonia enjoys from the United States. It paves the way for a comprehensive agreement that will provide tariffs no higher than 15 percent, and for certain products and industries up to 0%, opening up new opportunities for exports, investments and economic growth,” PM Mickoski triumphantly announced.
