A fake profile, an arranged meeting and a camera in hand – this is how, according to the criminal charges of the Macedonian Ministry of Interior (MoI), a group of young Bitola residents posed as a 14-year-old girl on social media for months.
The men who accepted the meeting did not encounter a girl. Instead, they were filmed, insulted and exposed to public humiliation.
The recordings later ended up on the Internet. Along with them, personal data of the people who had previously been lured through the fake profile was published.
“Upon arrival at the agreed locations, the victims were intercepted by members of the group, filmed without their consent, insulted, belittled, psychologically abused and forced to make statements that they were pedophiles, and the created videos and their personal data were publicly published on social networks, which caused a feeling of fear, humiliation and endangerment of their safety among the victims,” the Ministry of Interior said in its report.
