I’ve done everything to extend the opposition a hand, to unite. They’ve missed every chance and we won’t wait for them to decide to join forces over our national interests, Macedonian Prime Minister HristijanMickoski said speaking at a formal academy in Ohrid to mark Ss. Cyril and Methodius Day.
“That is why I am calling for the national and intellectual unity. The fact that some are leaders of political parties in the opposition and have that role does not mean that they are leaders of their people. By refusing to unite on national issues, they are doomed to failure. They become marginal servants of other people’s interests. That is why true unity is the national one. That is why let all intellectual circles unite and lend a hand. This is the last chance for Macedonia. We must take it,” said Mickoski.
The PM stressed that he cannot understand and justify domestic politicians who act as special envoys of a neighboring country prime minister.
“I cannot understand, nor justify, domestic politicians who act as special envoys of the prime minister of the neighboring country. What he says, domestic politicians and their representatives repeat. It’s defeating. It defeats us as a nation. We have an absence among some people of a sense of belonging to their people and a readiness to proudly carry what I am saying – the soft tissue of the Macedonian people. And the greater the barrier we are to the challenges, the more aggressive they are. And let me say that I have no money, no power and no reason why I would betray my people or do something, anything, to their detriment,” Prime Minister Mickoski pointed out.
