Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expects diesel and gasoline prices to drop this coming Monday and inflation to stabilize. The Government remains committed to support the citizens’ standard and maintain price stability, the PM stressed on Wednesday.
“I expect that we will have a downward leveling of gasoline and diesel prices as early as Monday. It is important that as a country we remain with the cheapest price of diesel and unleaded gasoline, taking into account that these are products that are purchased on the stock exchange, that is, all countries buy them from the same place,” said Mickoski.
The PM pointed out that the reduction in excise duties and VAT cost the Budget tens of millions of euros, but that the goal was to maintain price stability and ensure continuous supply.
Asked whether there was a possibility of intervening in the prices of basic products, Mickoski indicated that he expected further stabilization of inflation. He assessed that there are a large number of countries with worse parameters and said that the
Government will continue to actively work towards preserving price stability.
The analysis of 12 countries in the region, as Mickoski says, showed that in 2022 the country ranked eighth in terms of inflation, and now ranks third.
“Serbia and Albania are slightly ahead of Macedonia, but behind our country are all the other countries in the region, from Turkey, through Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and so on. In general, there are a large number of countries with far worse parameters. We will continue to actively work towards preserving price stability,” noted PM Mickoski.
