Police officers from the Mihajlovo Border Surveillance Police Station on Tuesday at the Demir Kapija toll booth on the Gevgelija-Negotino highway, detained A.G. (42) and G.G. (39), both from Kosovo, after a traffic control determined that they were transporting seven migrants from Egypt, the Ministry of Interior reported.

The police officers stopped a Volkswagen Transporter vehicle with Kosovo national plates, driven by A.G., and a Skoda Octavia vehicle with Kosovo national plates, driven by G.G., where seven migrants from Egypt were found in the Volkswagen vehicle and it was determined that the Skoda vehicle was a precursor.

“The public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption (PPO OCC) has been notified of the event, criminal charges have been filed against the Kosovo citizens under Article 418-b of the Criminal Code and they have been ordered to serve a 30-day detention measure,” informed the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The two suspects have been taken to the Skopje Penitentiary to serve the measure, while the migrants are housed in the Asylum Seekers Center in Skopje’s Vizbegovo.
