Around two hundred students will be admitted to the first, or 25th, class of the new state Secondary Police School – Police Academy, for which the public call for the 2026/2027 academic year is expected around July 1. It will resume secondary police education after a break of 26 years, or since the completion of the last generation (1996-2000) before the abolition of the then Center for Education of Security Staff “Elisie Popovski-Marko”.

The new secondary police school will be two-year (third and fourth year) and will enroll high school students aged 15-16, who have completed the first two years at any four-year high school in the country. The students will be taught vocational and general education subjects and will stay in a boarding house as part of the Ministry of Interior’s Training Center (Police Academy) in Idrizovo, where 24 generations of police officers were educated, from 1972 to 2000, in the former four-year police school.

The Police Academy was established by a decision of the Government and based on the Law on Police Academy, which was adopted in August due to the lack of formalized secondary police education.

Since the school was abolished, there has been basic police training for candidates aged 18 to 25, selected through a public announcement, who after one year at the Training Center establish an employment relationship with the Ministry of Interior. According to the initiators of the establishment of the new Police Academy, this does not allow for early and complete preparation of future police officers.

Students will need to meet general requirements (citizens of North Macedonia, under 18 years of age, active use of the Macedonian language, health and psychophysical ability) and special conditions prescribed by the Minister of Interior in order to enroll
