Shambevski: Full opening of SPO documentation to the public to see how the justice system was abused

The former ambassador says that corruption and abuses must be given a name - through an independent investigation, not through party calculations

Former SPO prosecutor Lejla Kadriu’s testimony is one of the most serious and direct revelations about how the abuse of the justice system in Macedonia functioned. This is not sensationalism – it is insider testimony from a person who was part of the system, and then expelled because she was “not a team player”, says VMRO-DPMNE’s Oliver Shambevski.

Shambevski points out that with more and more facts and testimonies like this one by Kadriu, it is becoming obvious how deep and systemic that abuse was.

“Many were harassed, some claim that around 5,000 people were summoned, intimidated, blackmailed, and hundreds of others were the target of selective persecution, not for the sake of justice, but for the sake of political calculation. This must be completely brought to light! And no, this is not a call for revenge, but a call for healing. This is a demand for justice and for the complete healing of society. If we want to mend the wounds, restore trust in the justice system and prevent the repetition of such practices, we must completely, transparently and without calculations clarify what really happened in the SPO,” Shambevski pointed out.

The former ambassador says that corruption and abuses must be given a name – through an independent investigation, not through party calculations.

“Perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea to fully open the SPO’s documentation to the general public, under the supervision of an independent commission, to finally see what was happening behind closed doors, who abused justice, how, and for what purpose. It seemed impossible for Epstein, too, but it still happened,” Shambevski underlined.
