The prosecution is continuing to undertake activities in an ongoing large-scale operation, which has resulted in the seizure of over 40 tons of marijuana from several legal entities in the country. The operation is coordinated with the Interior Ministry and the competent Commission for oversight of this type of activity from the Ministry of Health, Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release Monday.
The proceedings are taking place in continuous coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption (PPO OCC), as well as with other public prosecutor’s offices with local and substantive jurisdiction, which act on cases of criminal offenses established in the Law on Control of Narcotics.
“In order to fully establish the facts and circumstances, the prosecutor in question from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption is in communication with Serbia’s Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime, in order to exchange information relevant to the procedure that will help determine a possible connection between the two cases and the origin of the marijuana. At the same time, the public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime is taking other actions in accordance with his legal competences, including questioning persons as witnesses, in order to collect evidence and facts relevant to the procedure,” reads the press release.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption (PPO OCC), along with other competent institutions, continues to take actions to fully solve the case, and inform the general public in a timely manner.
