The Ministry of Transport has begun a procedure to sign an air transport agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which, as announced on Wednesday, will establish a legal framework for launching regular flights between the two countries.

“The purpose of the agreement is to establish a legal framework for launching regular flights between Macedonia and Saudi Arabia. We would like to emphasize that so far, no air traffic has been maintained between the two countries,” reads the statement.

As explained, the agreement creates liberal and fair operating conditions for air carriers, by encouraging competition, lower prices for passengers, as well as the possibility of introducing new and higher quality services. At the same time, the agreement guarantees the highest level of safety and security in air traffic in accordance with international standards.

“Macedonia and Saudi Arabia foster friendly relations, with a mutual commitment to promoting economic and trade cooperation, increasing investments, and deepening cooperation in several areas of mutual interest. It is expected that the establishment of regular flights between the two countries will contribute to increasing economic cooperation, tourism, trade exchange, and overall bilateral relations,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski.
