There is a plan regarding oncology according to which everything in tablet form will not be available exclusively in the hospital in Skopje, but will be transferred to pharmacies. Last year, two breast cancer drugs were transferred from the hospital to pharmacies and several thousand patients no longer need to go to the Oncology Clinic. Now, an analysis is being made of prostate therapies so that they can be transferred from hospital to pharmacy, Macedonian Minister of Health Sasho Klekovski said Tuesday.
“The Shtip Clinical Hospital has the smallest capacity at the moment, where there is only one oncologist. In Tetovo, a procurement procedure for a drug dispersion machine is in progress, after which increased treatment should begin. There is currently basic treatment there, and about 150 patients are treated in the Clinical Hospital in Tetovo. Preparations have been completed in the September 8th General Hospital to turn one of the floors into a day hospital for therapy with oncology medication. However, the entire field of oncology requires a rethink, because previous activities, I am talking about historical activities in the field of radiotherapy, did not work,” said Minister Klekovski.
