The proposal that an MP must only own Macedonian citizenship will burst another SDSM bubble, says ruling party MP Stojanoska

The MP stressed that the accusations made by the opposition SDS that a certain number of MPs have dual citizenship were unfounded, and the signatories of this amendment, as she said, are precisely current MPs from the VMRO-DPMNE MP group, whom the SDS claims own Bulgarian citizenship, and added that another bubble from the opposition SDSM would burst after this proposal

A Bill to amend the Law on Members of Parliament has already been forwarded to Parliament. And here another soap bubble will burst again, those lists that were published, and now they have made them very current again with the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, that a good part of our MPs, officials, have dual citizenships, said VMRO-DPMNE MP Dafina Stojanoska in an interview with Alfa TV.

MP Stojanoska referred to the Bill to amend the Law on Members of Parliament which has already been forwarded to Parliament and proposes introducing a condition – that only a person who has exclusively Macedonian citizenship can be an MP. The MP stressed that the accusations made by the opposition SDS that a certain number of MPs have dual citizenship were unfounded, and the signatories of this amendment, as she said, are precisely current MPs from the VMRO-DPMNE MP group, whom the SDS claims own Bulgarian citizenship, and added that another bubble from the opposition SDSM would burst after this proposal.

“The signatories of this amendment to the Law on Members of Parliament are precisely the current MPs from this list that they are removing from the SDS: Antonijo Miloshoski, Nikola Micevski, Bojan Stojanoski, Igor Zdravkovski and Marija Petrushevska. If Antonijo Miloshoski has a Bulgarian passport, it is impudent for him to be a signatory. The proposal is that MP candidates, when there are next elections, cannot become MPs if they have dual citizenship. Let’s see how the colleagues from the opposition SDS will declare themselves and that is why I say – today another bubble will burst on the part of SDS. Today they will have it as a proposal at the session itself when the agenda for the amendment is adopted, because it is via fast-track procedure, it’s not a complex amendment, and let’s see who will vote and who is bluffing,” MP Stojanoska underlined.
