The past two years since the formation of the current Macedonian Government led by VMRO-DPMNE and Hristijan Mickoski offer an opportunity to make a real cross-section that will answer the questions of what has been done in that short period, taking into account the two previous mandates of a government that was rushing into the abyss, as well as whether the country is returning to the right track.
What has been done so far in terms of investments in key sectors and the way in which processes are managed, indicates that the country is setting itself on the path of development. It is clear that the current Government has faced major inherited challenges, such as only announced and unfinished infrastructure projects, layered problems and obligations in several sectors, ruined healthcare, education without a compass, a deeply corrupt police-judicial system, and uncertainty in the energy sector.
“If one analyzes the economic parameters now, with those of 2022, in 2022, real wage growth was minus 2.9%, and now it is 3%, plus 6%. Let’s go by other parameters, let’s say inflation, in 2022 14.2%, now it is 4.5%. There was a projection of 3.5%, things happened, but it is not 14.5%. Then 2022 ended with GDP growth of 2.8%, and now the growth is 3.1% in the first quarter, I expect 3.5% by the end of the year. These are parameters, these are numbers that you cannot ignore,” PM Mickoski stressed on Saturday.
