According to information we have received, a coordinated action of the competent institutions is underway in connection with the case of pollution of drinking water in Gostivar.
As we learn, three people from the Gostivar-based PE Communal Hygiene have been detained under urgent procedure: acting director Aratana Asani, head of the Water Supply Department Vadedin Dervishi and technical director Leon Nuredini.
According to the information, the activities are being carried out in coordination with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the case is initially being conducted on suspicion of the criminal offenses pollution of drinking water and serious crimes against the environment and nature in line with the Criminal Code.
The competent institutions have not yet published official details about the course of the action, and an official announcement is expected to follow during the day with more information about the measures taken and the course of the day. According to unofficial information we have obtained, the report of the Institute of Public Health shows that out of the four tested water samples, fecal coliform bacteria were found in two, and an increased presence of chlorine was also determined in one sample.
