A wolf that was kept as a pet, with a leash and chain, was caught in a Skopje settlement Tuesday night, Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski said in a social media post Wednesday.
“A wolf was caught in a Skopje settlement, which was apparently illegally kept (with a leash and chain) as a pet. All competent institutions were immediately notified of the case. I cannot believe that there are such reckless individuals who treat wild animals in this way, while endangering the safety of their fellow citizens. This is not only irresponsible, but also a serious danger to the entire environment. The wolf is currently being cared for by the services of the Skopje Zoo, and I expect the institutions to take all necessary measures and fully clarify the case! There must be order in Skopje! We must build a more humane, safer and responsible society in which the laws apply to all, and animals are treated with care, not as objects for someone’s personal experience,” Gjorgjievski said in a social media post.
