The only party of the Macedonians in Albania, the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration, continues advocating for the country’s new electoral code to guarantee parliamentary seats for minorities.
The parties of other minorities in the country joined them in these commitments and together submitted a request to the competent Albanian institutions as well as representatives of international organizations and foreign embassies.
“Our party MAEI, as well as the parties of the Vlachs, the Roma and the Egyptians, united in the common aspiration to improve democracy and protect the rights of minorities, submitted a request to the dialogue group at the Albanian Parliament, which is responsible for preparing the new electoral code,” informed MAEI president Vasil Sterjovski.
