As of today, the Islamic Religious Community (IRC) is reopening mosques for citizens, in accordance with the decision of the extraordinary meeting of the Riyaset on May 7. The facilities were closed on March 17 after the introduction of government measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The decision states that it was taken “at the initiative of the 13th Muftis, which are based on the demands of the congregations (believers) concerned about the careless activities of the MOC that have encouraged the believers of the Islamic faith.”
The prayers in the mosques, as noted by Skopje Mufti Kenan Ismaili, will be held according to all protocols in Western countries regarding the maintenance of physical distance between believers and wearing protective masks.
