Mayor of the City of Skopje Danela Arsovska reveals that during her predecessor Petre Shilegov’s term the debt of the City has increased three times in relation to the debt that he inherited from his predecessor.

She stressed at a press briefing that, precisely because of the increase in debt, the City is not left space and basis for lending, for which it was planned to take loans for large city capital projects.

“Unfortunately, I have to say that the City is facing a lot of debt and at this moment what is left as wiggle room for practically something that can be done on the basis of lending, is close to nothing. And I saw that someone from the previous leadership tried to present it as my weakness, that I would not be able to lend, instead of presenting it as my own criticism, which allowed the city to borrow three times more than it was in four years in the previous term of the predecessor,” said Arsovska.
