The Macedonian diplomatic union welcomes the successful sale of the real estate of the former Yugoslavia on Fifth Avenue in New York, within the succession process of the former SFRY. We urge the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government to immediately reinvest the received funds in the amount of about 4 million US dollars in the purchase of real estate, i.e. diplomatic apartments in New York.
Considering that the legal regulations provide for the payment of these funds to the state budget, we believe that there is a real danger that these funds will be diluted and spent inappropriately.
With this reinvestment of the funds, the housing fund of Macedonia abroad will be significantly enriched, which will at least partially reduce the huge expenses paid for rents of our diplomats abroad. By the way, these are the experiences in the countries of former Yugoslavia, said the union.
