The National Bank is intensively working on the adoption of EU regulatory and technical standards in the payment sphere for the country’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) as soon as possible, Deputy Governor Emilija Nacevska pointed out at the Workshop on High-Level Payment Systems, organized by the European Central Bank (ECB).

“Translating a wide set of EU directives and regulations in the payment sphere into the country’s legal system ensured a high degree of compliance in the legal framework for the country’s accession to SEPA. The National Bank is also strongly committed to the application of technical standards ISO 20022 in the work of the Macedonian Interbank Payment System – MIPS, which ensures interoperability between payment systems and enables interconnection, ensuring security and efficiency of cross-border payments,” said Nacevska.
