The inspection services of the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) conducted 39 extraordinary inspection controls in nursing homes in the country at the beginning of the month. The controls determined that only one was not registered as a food operator with the FVA, for which he was temporarily banned from working, fined and given an order for his registration with the Agency.
One food operator did not meet the hygiene requirements for food safety, and four of the inspected nursing homes did not conduct mandatory health examinations for employees.
For the identified inconsistencies, which also related to irregular record keeping for Good Hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice, failure to submit certificates for conducted training in the field of food hygiene, procurement records, delays in implementing mandatory measures for disinfection, disinfestation and deratization and other minor inconsistencies, three decisions were issued with orders for their removal and two warnings.
For larger violations, fines in the amount of 1,550 euros in denar equivalent were imposed on 4 operators, and only one controlled operator destroyed 6 kilograms of unsafe food harmlessly.
During the extraordinary inspections conducted with the same category of operators in November 2024, 14 were not registered as food operators in the FVA, and 40 kilograms of unsafe food were destroyed harmlessly. A total of 16 decisions were issued with orders to eliminate identified inconsistencies, and fines were imposed on 18 nursing homes.
