At the proposal of the head of the Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD), StojancheAngelov, two new pilots have successfully completed retraining in Spain for operations with the PRD’s air tractor firefighting aircraft, which earned them a certificate of competency to fly in all conditions for outdoor firefighting.

With this, after the pilots’ return from Spain last night, the DPR will welcome the upcoming summer season of outdoor fires with a total of five pilots who have world-recognized licenses to fly with firefighting aircraft such as the DPR’s “air tractor” amphibian (which can also fill water from lakes), the PRD said Monday.

Specifically, the PRD promptly fulfilled all necessary conditions for the two pilots employed by the directorate, otherwise with extensive flying resumes, retired Colonel Robert Malezanski and GoranBlazheski, to be sent for a three-week retraining at the European reference aerial firefighting training center “ Titan” in Spain (ATA Titan Aerial firefighting, Spain) at the beginning of March.
