An online coordination meeting was held today with all relevant stakeholders in the energy transformation process, attended by Macedonian Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska, marking the start of preparations for a significant investment cycle for the energy renovation of public buildings in North Macedonia.

The meeting presented the guidelines for the preparation of a preparatory study for energy efficiency, with a clear determination to make the renovation of the public construction fund one of the key state priorities. The process is being implemented within the framework of the PEEB Cool program, with support from the French Development Agency (AFD) and in coordination with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the competent institutions.

As an initial step, a list of 14 priority public buildings with a total area of about 100,000 square meters and an estimated renovation value of about 11 million euros was presented. This constitutes a basis for building a significantly broader investment portfolio, with an ambition to reach at least 50 million euros.

During the meeting, it was stressed that the state already has an obligation to annually renovate 3% of public buildings in the period 2025–2028, with the aim of reaching at least 9% renovated area by 2028. The preparatory study will provide a concrete and applicable basis for the next phase – detailed analyses and implementation of investments.
