The current legislation in the country permits workers to work for more than 40 hours, i.e., for 50 hours. There are many workers who already work 50 hours by choice and prior consent, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Wednesday, in answer to a journalist’s question over the newly published job openings for the construction of Corridor VIII and X-d motorways and whether the hired workers will work 40 hours a week.
“We currently have valid laws in the country, if amendments are adopted which foresee other working conditions then they will apply. But even now, our legislation allows workers to work more than 40 hours, i.e., 50 hours. So, there are many workers who already work 50 hours by choice and with prior consent,” said Kovachevski.
PM Kovachevski said that according to the construction contract, 51 percent of the work should be done by Macedonian subcontractors, while the rest will be done by foreign subcontractors.
