The Ombudsman institution will initiate proceedings in the case of a 17-year-old boy with autism, who was previously reported in the media to have been tied up and had wounds on his body in the DemirHisar Psychiatric Hospital, after his mother published photos of his injuries and made public the incident with the son.
VaskaBajramovska Mustafa, the state adviser of the Ombudsman, said that they will open the case on their own initiative and will take all measures to shed light on it.
“We ask the competent authorities to supervise the work of the institutions and, of course, to request appropriate information about the knowledge presented to the parents through the media about the way the child was treated while he was placed,” said Bajramovska.
EarlierWednesday, the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate announced that it will carry out surveillance in the psychiatric hospital.
The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and the Macedonian Association of Young Lawyers reacted to the case of a 17-year-old boy who was chained, as claimed by his mother.
