At a time when the world is facing a climate crisis that makes food production more difficult, we ask to reconsider the need for legal changes that enable the permanent conversion of agricultural lands into construction lands for the development of renewable energy sources.
Due to the proposed possibility of permanent conversion of the most fertile agricultural land for hydroelectric power plants, thermoelectric, nuclear, wind, concentration solar, biofuel power plants and surface solar and photovoltaic power plants, it will limit the purpose of locations with fertile soil for providing food for the population. Fertile agricultural lands should in no way be converted into construction lands for energy buildings or industrial facilities, said the Center for Environmental Research and Information Eko-Svest (Eco-Awareness) in a reaction to the proposed amendments and additions to the Law on Agricultural Land.
