Economic indicators show GDP growth of over 3% in 7 consecutive quarters. Up to 17,000 new jobs have been created, the unemployment rate has dropped from 12.5% ​​to 11.3%, and the employment rate has increased from 45.6% to 46.5%. The operational plan for 2026 is worth EUR 40 million, and EUR 32 million of them are aimed specifically at employment, the ruling VMRO-DPMNE said Sunday.
Macedonia is today among the five fastest growing economies in Europe according to GDP growth, and foreign direct investments have reached a record 1.255 billion euros, VMRO- DPMNE reports.

“Wages in healthcare, education, police and defense, as well as pensions, have increased. At the same time, the average net wage in two years has went up by 19.6%.
An investment cycle worth EUR 10 billion is being implemented in infrastructure over the next 10 years. Six new motorway solutions are being actively worked on, with the aim of completing them by the end of 2027.
The budget for higher education has been increased from less than MKD 3 billion in 2022, during the SDS, to now be MKD 8 billion in 2026. The budget for science has been increased from MKD 380 million in 2024 to MKD 773 million in 2026.
A total of 55,000 vouchers of 250 euros each for electronic devices were awarded to students and each student was entitled to an application for an electronic device, grants of 10,000 euros were provided for starting their own business and for young farmers, the scope of the subsidized student meal has been expanded, and student dormitories are being reconstructed. With the 2025 Operational Plan, and the self-employment measure, over 2,200 legal entities were opened, which shows that the measure has been successfully implemented, and the same will continue in 2026.

Regarding agriculture, approx. MKD 15 billion in subsidies have been paid in two years, which is one billion Macedonian denars more than the previous government gave in 3 years.
Additionally, with the alignment of domestic legislation with European directives and regulations in the field of electronic communications, Macedonia is prepared for the next phase of joining the European roaming space, which will enable the “Roam Like Home” service to be available to Macedonian nationals in European Union countries, at the same prices as domestic ones.
