The Macedonian Government announced that over 120 Macedonian artists will be part of the central project to mark 35 years of Macedonia’s independence, which, according to Government spokesperson Marija Miteva, is one of the most significant cultural projects in the past three and a half decades.

At a press briefing Friday, Miteva stressed “that, although international stars deserve respect, it is Macedonian artists and national culture that carry the spirit and identity of the country.”

“Macedonian artists, Macedonian culture are the ones that carry the spirit of a nation,” said Miteva, adding that the Government is particularly proud to have managed to realize a project that will include more than 120 domestic artists.

The spokesperson expressed gratitude to all participants in the project, as well as to the artists who, as she said, were unable to attend today’s press conference.

Miteva announced that in the coming period, in stages, the Government will announce the remaining projects that will be part of the program for marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.

According to the government’s representative, the goal is for the anniversary to be marked with dignity, with an emphasis on Macedonian culture and art as one of the most important pillars of national identity.
