Public finances stable, tax revenues growing as result of regular economic activity, says Finance Minister

In the first half 2026, i.e. in the January-June period, total revenues in the state budget were realized in the amount of MKD 170 billion (or MKD 169.9 billion), which is an increase of 8.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and there is a realization of the plan of over 45%.

Macedonian Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, in the presentation of the 2026 Budget revision in the committee debate in the Parliament, assessed that public finances are stable, the revenue side is realized in accordance with expectations, and expenditures are directed towards fulfilling legal obligations and realizing priority development policies.

“It is particularly significant that the majority of revenues come from regular economic activity. Tax revenues reached MKD 96.7 billion, with revenues from value added tax amounting to MKD 43.3 billion and accounting for around 44.7% of total tax revenues. Personal income tax revenues reached MKD 17.5 billion, profits tax revenues MKD 13.8 billion, and excise taxes generated MKD 13.9 billion,” the finance minister said.

The data show an increase in personal income tax revenues of 11.7%, profits tax by 14.5%, value added tax by 16.4%, and an increase of 8.3% in import duties.
