We will not allow Filipche to turn off the party’s lights, says former SDSM official Ivanovski

He moderated the meeting of SDSM members from different generations and civic activists who do not have party profiles on Wednesday, under the name “Conversations about the Future at 12:05”, at which, as stated in the statement they issued after the event, it was concluded that the progressive democratic public in the country needs a substantive and objective debate, which must be freed from the usual need to please party leaders

The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) and its leader Venko Filipche are two fundamentally different things, said university professor and former senior SDSM official Igor Ivanovski in an interview with Sitel TV. He moderated the meeting of SDSM members from different generations and civic activists who do not have party profiles on Wednesday, under the name “Conversations about the Future at 12:05”, at which, as stated in the statement they issued after the event, it was concluded that the progressive democratic public in the country needs a substantive and objective debate, which must be freed from the usual need to please party leaders.

The event even before it took place caused sharp reactions from the Social Democratic Union.

Explaining the reasons for the meeting, which took place behind closed doors in a Skopje hotel, Ivanovski said that it was the current state of the political scene, where on one side there is, as he said, an unjustifiably strong government, and on the other – an opposition that cannot articulate, as he assessed, the increasingly strong opposition mood in the country.

When they spoke with, as he called them, his colleagues, they said that they believe they should additionally help SDSM in the right way, in a situation where, according to the ex-party official, there is no substantive debate in the party and the problems are being ignored.
