Over 1,400 WWI bombs found at Bitola’s Tumbe Kafe in former barracks

The Bitola-based Ministry of Interior (MoI) informs that a pyrotechnician from the Bitola Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) reported that at a place called Tumbe Kafe, in the former barracks, over 1,400 pieces of bombs and grenades from the First World War were discovered and safely removed

The Bitola-based Ministry of Interior (MoI) informs that a pyrotechnician from the Bitola Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) reported that at a place called Tumbe Kafe, in the former barracks, over 1,400 pieces of bombs and grenades from the First World War were discovered and safely removed.

According to information from the police, the found explosive quantity is specified in detail by type.
“it involves 540 pieces of mortar grenades, 371 hand grenades and 532 trombone grenades, all from the First World War,” say the Ministry of Interior.

The competent services add that the location where the discovered bombs and grenades were found and safely removed is currently completely secured and remains strictly prohibited for the movement of citizens.
