The average consumer basket has already been developed, adopted and accepted by the Economic and Social Council, but the data is being aligned with the State Statistics Office (SSO). I expect, ifthe coordination goes well, to start implementing it as of September, Macedonian Deputy Minister of Economy Marjan Risteski said Wednesday.
Risteski said that the average consumer basket is not a counterpart to the minimum consumer basket of the Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM).
“Let me reiterate for the umpteenth time that the average consumer basket is not a counterpart to the minimum consumer basket, which is not minimal, it is published by the unions according to some of their parameters. This basket will be useful for us to conduct correct economic policies, adopt correct laws, decisions and measures, based on well-processed statistical data,” Risteski underlined.
