The investigating judge of the Ulcinj Basic Court has ordered a 30-day detention measure for Sashka Stojanovska (43), the Macedonian national who ran over a Sharplaninec dog after the dog strangled her pet. The detention, according to Montenegrin media, was ordered on Saturday, due to reasonable suspicion that on Friday she committed the crime of killing and torturing animals, as well as destroying their habitat.
According to the Criminal Code of Montenegro, Stojanovska faces a fine or imprisonment of up to 2 years.
Stojanovska’s daughter said in a statement for TV Sitel that the Sharplaninec dog that was run over attacked and killed their pet dog, and then attacked family members. According to the suspect’s daughter, the dog entered their apartment, dismembered the pet, and then attacked them as well. Then the owner of the Sharplaninec dog and a group of his friends threatened them in front of the apartment. The daughter claims that the run over was an attempt by the woman to defend her children and her pet.
