The City of Skopje, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, plans to introduce an integrated ticket for various modes of public transport, allowing citizens to combine multiple means of transport using a single paid ticket, Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski told the 4TV show “Night Studio” Saturday evening,
“You wouldn’t have to get off a train, having already paid 40 denars, only to board a bus and pay another 35 denars. With a single ticket, you could board in Zelenikovo, travel to Gjorche Petrov, and reach a third destination,” Gjorgjievski said during the interview.
According to the announcements, the system would enable a single journey combining different types of public transport, without the need for passengers to pay again each time they transfer.
Gjorgjievski expects the system to be ready by the middle of next year. He noted that the integrated ticket would mean simpler travel, less wasted time, and lower costs for citizens.
“We need to develop the system in the coming period, and I believe we will have results by around the middle of next year,” added the Skopje mayor.
