The NATO family discusses military assistance and spending of funds on equal terms, and yet we aren’t equal in another family that seems very similar, Macedonian Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski told Kanal 5 TV in an interview.
“Why are we always the ones that have to change something? We changed the name, the anthem, the flag, the banknotes. Back when we were in opposition, we used to ask if this was the last thing. I view this differently because I had the opportunity to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; I was part of the Good Neighborliness Commission. I was involved back when we refused to accept a lack of reciprocity, precisely to avoid the kind of problems we are facing now regarding shared history. Yet, whenever that stance wasn’t accepted, an SDSM-led government would step in and make promises. Even now, you see statements directed at Bulgaria from Macedonian politicians, including the SDSM leader and others,” said Misajlovski.
The minister points out that the proposal accepted by SDSM and the coalition is one that the Macedonian people do not accept.
“We cannot accept the constitutional amendments at any cost, only to face another obstacle tomorrow. We are asking: is this the final demand? Let that be clear. It is a good initiative for EU representatives, and NATO representatives, too, to sit down at the table. There is an initiative; we are making a proposal,” said Misajlovski.
