Industrial production in September 2020 was down 4.1% compared to the same month in 2019. Moreover, in the period January-September 2020 industrial production dropped by 12.1% compared to the first nine months in 2019, State Statistical Office data shows.
Industrial production in the section Mining and quarrying in September 2020, in comparison with September 2019, decreased by 9.7%, in the section Manufacturing it decreased by 1.9%, while in the section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it decreased by 13.2%.
The decrease in the section Manufacturing is mostly due to decreased production in the divisions Manufacture of food products, Manufacture of beverages, Manufacture of textiles, Manufacture of wearing apparel, Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, Manufacture of electrical equipment and Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers.
Industrial production by Main Industrial Groupings in September 2020, in comparison with September 2019, was lower in Energy by 12.0%, Durable consumer goods by 26.2% and Non-durable consumer goods by 11.1%, but higher in Intermediate goods, except energy by 5.0% and Capital goods by 2.4%.
