Chief Public Prosecutor NenadSaveski on Thursday expressed regret after LencheRistoska earlier announced she’s resigning as public prosecutor saying the decision he made to revoke the authorisations she had been given by his predecessors isn’t personal, but it’s of “organizational nature”.
“In principle, I do not want to comment on personal decisions, but I still express my regret for the decision of my colleague Ristoska. I was personally informed of this act by her via SMS after submitting her resignation, and I learned about the reasons for it from the media. However, what I want to emphasize is that the Public Prosecution Office remains without a public prosecutor from whom I expected that with her many years of valuable experience she would contribute to strengthening the capacities of this institution, especially with her position as a prosecutor for liaison with Eurojust. The decision to revoke all authorizations granted by my predecessors is not personal and in no way is it directed at the work of Prosecutor Ristoska,” Saveski said.
That decision, as Saveski points out, is of an organizational nature and its goal is to increase the efficient conduct of the public prosecution office.
“I take this opportunity to call on all public prosecutors together and each individually, not to allow anything to affect our professional integrity and daily work. At the same time, I call on all socially influential entities to create an atmosphere in which the reputation of the prosecution will not be jeopardized, because this is in the interest not only of the public prosecution, but also of all citizens who exercise their individual rights and freedoms, among other things, through the work of this institution,” said Prosecutor Saveski.
