Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday that he does not want to comment on the latest decision of the Constitutional Court, which suspended the procedure for assessing the constitutionality of the linear increase in pensions, according to which it remains in force, but stressed that although the Court’s decisions are sometimes and sometimes not in line with the policies of the Government, they should be respected and implemented. Fortunately, the PM says, this time the decision is in the pensioners’ best interest.
“As for the decision of the Constitutional Court, I have said many times that I will not comment on them. Naturally, sometimes those decisions are in accordance with your policies, sometimes they are not in accordance with your policies, but the decisions of the Constitutional Court must be accepted and implemented,” said Mickoski in response to a media question after a visit to the Shtip-based company Aktiva.
This decision, says Prime Minister Mickoski, fortunately for pensioners, is in their favor and the linear increase of 1000 denars for each pensioner will remain.
“This completes the MKD 7000 linear pension increase since we came to power, although we promised an increase of MKD 5000, we already have MKD 7000. That will now be completed with the March pension, which will be paid in April. In this way, we have not only kept that promise, but I would say we have exceeded it by about 40 percent,” the PM pointed out.
Mickoski added that according to the law, the minimum wage should also be increased this March.
