Based on the regular quarterly assessment of systemic risks, based on data for Q4 2025, including the latest available data, the National Bank’s Executive Board has decided not to change the countercyclical capital buffer rate for banks’ exposures, i.e. to maintain it at 2 percent of risk-weighted assets in the second quarter (Q2) of 2027.
The countercyclical capital buffer rates for banks’ exposures to customers from other countries will be applied in accordance with the rate set by the competent authority of the other country.
Based on developments in the banking system and the environment, including domestic developments, it was assessed that the countercyclical capital buffer rate of 2 percent is in line with macro-financial conditions and the situation in the banking system.
The banking system has maintained operational stability and reliability and is well capitalized and liquid, with a low rate of non-performing loans and solid profitability.
