The Skopje Criminal Court ordered a 30-day detention for former Customs Administration director Stefan Bogoev and three other suspects, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO).
The judge at the Skopje Criminal Courtordered the measure at apreliminary procedure, acting upon a proposal from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption (PPO OCC), to order the measure against 4 individuals for whom there is a reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of Abuse of the Public Call Procedure, Awarding a Public Procurement Contract or Public-Private Partnership, Receiving a Reward for Unlawful Influence and Giving a Reward for Unlawful Influence.
Bogoev was taken to the Skopje Criminal Court Wednesday afternoon, where he was brought before a judge for preliminary proceedings, following a request from the Prosecutor’s Office for a detention order for him and three other people due to the existence of reasonable suspicion of abuse of the public procurement procedure, of receiving and giving bribes.
According to the evidence provided, the prime suspect, using his official position and influence as Director of the Customs Administration, influenced the implementation of the tender procedure in favor of the selected bidder, and the second suspect, in his capacity as Assistant Director, influenced other economic operators not to participate in the final phase of the procedure.
