A Macedonian national is the main suspect and has confessed to the murder of the owner of the apartment in which he was a tenant near Chania on the Greek island of Crete, who disappeared on May 30, while her remains were found Sunday morning.
A missing person’s warrant was issued for the disappearance of the woman from the village of Agia near Chania, Stavroula Levendaki (45), at the beginning of this month.

The Macedonian national was arrested Friday for possession and cultivation of narcotics, and during questioning at the police station about the case of the missing woman during the night, he confessed to the murder and indicated to the police the place where he buried the body, which was later found.

Regarding the reasons for the murder, he allegedly said that he and the owner had argued over the condition of the apartment. According to information from MIA’s correspondent in Athens, the man in question is 43-year-old M.L. with a Macedonian passport, who has lived and worked in Crete for several years and has no criminal record. He resided in the victim’s apartment for several years.
