Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski commenting on the Safe City project in an interview with national broadcaster MRT stressed that it’s yielding results, citizens respect traffic and there’s a significant reduction in traffic violations, while regarding the protests for unregistered vehicles and driving without a driver’s license, he said that “the law must be respected and there must be no compromise, there must be order.”
Regarding the protests and threats for driving without a driver’s license and for unregistered vehicles, PM Mickoski stressed that there are specific actions and measures by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for those who have crossed the border, and that rampage and anything that is not a peaceful way of protest will not be tolerated.
“I asked the Ministry of Interior to react sharply against the perpetrators who endanger the right to freedom, the lives of people, regardless of whether they are civilians or members of the Ministry of Interior, and destroy state property or cause other types of damage. They must be held accountable for all of this. We are still a legal state, a member of NATO, a state that claims to be part of the EU, and this year, when order is being introduced, in traffic and other spheres of society, and we must have order if we want to be a state. While I am the Prime Minister, the laws must be respected. The law states that in order to drive a passenger vehicle, you must have a valid driving license. If you don’t have one, you won’t drive. If you drive without a valid document, you will be held accountable before the law. There is no compromise here,” PM Mickoski pointed out.
