The Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) presented on Wednesday material evidence from the inspection of the destroyed Pulse mightclub in Kochani. Among the items found were a destroyed receiver for activating pyrotechnics, a black backpack with additional equipment, batteries and unused pyrotechnic devices.
A photo album of 92 photographs was shown to the Court documenting the current state, including the interior of the facility, the location of the stage and the window grilles. The prosecution indicated that three empty fire extinguishers were also found in the facility.
“It was noted that there were metal structures and consoles placed above the stage at a height measured from the stage to the ceiling of 2.7 meters, which indicates a small distance between the stage and the upper elements,” the prosecutor noted.
An undamaged pyrotechnic fountain was also presented, the specification of which showed that its range was greater than the distance between the stage and the ceiling. In addition, the presence of easily flammable materials such as Styrofoam and Perwol was highlighted.
“Restrictive and unsafe conditions for movement and evacuation were determined, including a partition double door, an aluminum door, as well as a side door without a handle with a locked lock, metal rings and a padlock in the locked position,”the public prosecutor pointed out.
The report states that the fire occurred as a result of the use of pyrotechnics by the DNK music band. The expert examination determined that the sponge in the building, when burning, created hot droplets, which were also found on some of the deceased, as well as on the clothes of singer Andreja Gjorgjievski.
The hearing took place in a tense atmosphere after the defense challenged the expert opinion of the Institute of Forensic Medicine and requested the exclusion of some of the evidence, which the Court rejected as unfounded.
