Macedonian President GordanaSiljanovska-Davkova says security is at the highest level and there is no logical ground for espionage, adding that all information coming from NATO, the National Security Agency, the Intelligence Agency and the General Staff are in hardcopy and no one else other than herself sees it.
“The espionage allegations are very serious and I think there is no logical ground for it. Let me explain why. Espionage relates to classified or strictly confidential data. There is no online base of classified data in the President’s Office. I receive all confidential or strictly confidential documents exclusively in hardcopy. As per protocol, I read, pack and give the document to the person from the office of records, who holds the highest security clearance. They are usually returned to the sender or are filed. If the communication is carried out in this way, then which data is subject of espionage even if someone penetrates the IT system? Moreover, I scratch my head when seeing intelligence officials discussing that I was under threat, that security was in jeopardy because of espionage,” Siljanovska-Davkovasaid in an interview.
The Macedonian head of state says that once she found out that a staffer pointed to a breach in the computer system, she immediately contacted the Ministry of Interior.
President SiljanovskaDavkova is also shocked by the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption (PPO OCC) for failing to follow Article 289 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which reads that all actions in the preliminary investigation are secret.
